Whilst some spare part distributors/suppliers would advise the replacement of the full ball joint, if the cover is split, in a lot of instances this isn’t either necessary or cost effective.
Replacing the cover is a simple job especially when using the Easifit tool.
An added advantage to replacing the cover instead of the full track rod end is that there is no need to have the steering geometry checked or adjusted saving both time and money.
